Noble Vision

An Incredible First Effort
I highly recommend Noble Vision by Gen LaGreca to anyone interested in individualism, free enterprise, medicine or just a damn good novel. I will admit that, this being Ms. LaGreca's first novel, I expected to read about Howard Roark in scrubs. I expected to see blatantly Objectivist ethics superimposed over a new theme with little regard to originality. Because, let's face it, most writers influenced by Ayn Rand, such as myself, have a very difficult time finding their own distinctive style.
Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised. LaGreca does an excellent job of creating a very real, a very suspenseful story about a man who stands up against state-run medicine in order to continue his research on a groundbreaking neurological procedure. I found myself gripped by the in-depth descriptions of life-saving surgeries, and truly convinced of Dr. Lang's passion for medicine, and Nicole Hudson.
LaGreca covers the spectrum from end to end: from the unyielding Dr. Lang, to his brother who believe that compromise is the solution, his father who desperately clamors to please the public, to the governor who is explicitly interested in power, and nothing else.
What is equally inspiring in the fact that Ms. LaGreca and her accomplices started the publishing company Winged Victory Press just to get their book on the shelves. That tells me that several fools turned her down before she took her final route.
